Not a Quilt Post

It was a beautiful day and Soulmate wanted to go play golf with the family. So off we go.
Queeny here is laughing at a old golf glove she found that is way too small. She has also outgrown her clubs and will be needing new ones. For now she shares her sisters.

This was taken after letting a 11 year old drive the cart. She did great the first four holes, but a water cooler got in her way on the fifth and it took two holes before her mother stopped shaking from the crash. All was well in the end and it provided some great teasing material for the rest of us.

I need all the help I can get. I also chant " I can hit the ball" before I swing. Sometimes I meet success, others I just pick up the darn thing and move on.

The last hole and I hit is in the middle of the fairway. A proud moment. I whiffed the next two swings and picked up the ball. I figured I would end with that.

Halloween Top done

Just have to sew togther the back and then quilt it. I have to finish these two "wonky " ones(halloween and horse) because the Old Red Barn Quilt Along on Flickr is starting a new round. If any of you would like to learn how to quilt I would strongly urge you to check it out. It is a wonderful group of people and you learn so much.

Halloween Quilt in the making

While my parents were here and the sewing machine remained in the lower level I stitched these guys getting ready for the Halloween season. I've seen some really cute Halloween Quilts on Flickr and wanted one of my own. I love the wonky log cabin, although I make the biggest mess doing it, with fabric everywhere. There is a smile on my face, so we will just ignore the mess for now. I have two more of these type of blocks to make and then 7 of the alternating block made up of some yummy owl halloween fabric. Makes me "tee hee" just thinking about it.

On another quilt note.....I have the wonky horse quilt sandwich put together and just have to quilt it and bind it and it will be ready to go. I think after much debate and thought, I will do a loopy free motion with a tan thread. I hope this turns out. I've enlisted the queens to help me put the quilt sandwiches together and it is so helpful, less frustrating and turns out better- so a family event.

Nature is amazing

It is the perfect time here for fall colors. We took a couple of drives to view the change of the leaves and you would think we have never seen trees before. Mom and Dad left this morning after a week long visit and we had a good time with lots of walks, domino games, good food and just being.

Stella

This is the puppy I walk at least once a week, soemtimes three times. Depends how busy her family is. She is a Plotts hound mix and is brindle in color- Beautiful coloring. She gives me my big dog fix.

Three Queen's teeth

Poor baby went in for a routine cleaning and had to have three teeth pulled. Not what we were planning with grandparents coming the next day, but so be it. She is doing well and even got to show off her teeth at school. The tooth fairy had be very nice to her, don't you think?

Fall is here

Coin Quilt complete

Here is the front

And the back. It measures 47 X 71. a good lap size. With the weather taking a turn it was so nice to have it covering my lap as I handstitched the binding. Wow it is cold..... All if a sudden. I think it dropped 30 degrees in two days. No wonder my head is splitting. But ..... getting things done. Made another scarf, finished the second quilt, got the neighborhood directory out. Got to get the house cleaned because my parents are coming tomorrow- jumps up and down with a wahoo!- can you tell I'm excited? I took the girls to see "Cloudy with a chance of meatballs". It was cute. The theater was crowded though. I had a free movie ticket, got free popcorn and one dollar candy so a good deal to boot. you know how I love a deal. How was your weekend?

One is done

I finished the Owl Quilt this morning. It measures 45x 60 so a good lap or crib quilt. I did a loopy quilting and hand bound it. My binding turns out better when I do it by hand and I like having hand work to do at night in front of the tv. Next up- Coin Quilt.

250 post and a really good day

note the ball is still in the ground. You have to count those whiffs, don't you? Yeah, I suck, but we had fun.

Show off here, made birdie on the last hole. Good job camara girl.
I did make a real par 3 today. I say real because I didn't move the ball to give myself a better lie or pick it up and put it next to Soulmates. I hit 1 real good shot and 2 putted. made my day. We played 18 holes and then had lunch overlooking the river. it was a awesome day. As a plus Queen 1 came home with 3 A's and 4 A+'s on her interiem report card.

Let the quilting begin

I finished the back yesterday and now I can start quilting the FIVE quilts. Well, after I clean this house. What was I thinking? I signed up for a new swap. Agian, what was I thinking? But I couldn't not do this one. It is with a Flickr group that quiltinkimmie started call My favorite Quilters and this group has some major talent in it. I can't wait to see what they come up with. I have to make a mini quilt 6 inches or smaller. The ideas are flowing and I think I've got what I want to do. I have to mail it off by the end of the month, so there is plenty of time.
Plenty of time.....five quilts, mini quilt, scarves for Christmas gifts, put together neighborhood directory -sure I've got this....No pressure.

Having a brain fart

I didn't realize I had already shared the 9 patch so sorry about covering that twice. Although while we are on the subject go get screened. So much better to catch this stuff early.

October Already!!!!

Am I the only one flipping out about this? I can't believe how fast time is going and before you know it- halloween. My parents are coming in two weeks. We are very excited about that. Above is one of the two blocks I sent to Heidi in PA for a charity quilt she is putting together for skin cancer benefit. After receiving the news of "benign" it was the least I could do.
I'm making scarves. If you are on my Christmas list- put in your order now of the colors you like. One thing I found is that I have no manly yarn. Darn I guess I will have to go shopping. You know how much I hate that! HA!

Kiwi quilt top is done and now I am working on the back. I am 3/4 of the way finished with it so maybe by the weekend I will have some pictures for you. I have been pouring over quilting books from the library on ways to quilt quilts.- Say that three times fast- Anyway, I think I am going to try a few new things so stay tuned. It will be interesting and entertaining if nothing else.
Happy October people!
