I love love love happy mail. Probably one of the many reasons I do these swaps. This was made for me by Leila (flickr name needleanddime) Aside from "happy mail" you really get to meet some wonderful crafty people you would never have the experience meeting. Inspiration at the artistry of ones work to name another, but you get what I am trying to say. Thank you Leila. It really is the best.

My "work in progess" piece. Will end up being a crib size quilt. I got to have some sewing time yesterday and it was awesome. Fabric line is Moda Bliss. The gingham is going to be the backing and its going to be sashed in white. At least that is the plan for now. Subject to change.

Great Falls Virginia

 I hate to keep comparing BUT after living in upstate NY and seeing Niagara I think it is cheating to call these falls. But it was a pretty day and we had a good walk.

 It got us out of the house in case anyone wanted to see it, which they didn't because it was too beautiful to go looking for homes. Maybe next week. Better yet- In God's Time. Have you heard that song yet? Country station. Loved it. Heard it for the first time Friday on the way home from work. It is perfect for us.

Rising Waters

This was taken where Goose Creek and the Potomac River meet. It seems each spring we've been getting flooding. We're thankful that no homes were damaged from the waters, just no golf or park for a while.

More proud Momma

My little Queen had her first meet this weekend. She has been asked to go into the competitive All Star Group starting in summer and they put in this "in house" meet to get the girls a taste of what it is like. They put her first in the rotation and she handled her nerves pretty well.

She tied for third on the uneven bars.

Bombed a bit on the beam- fell off twice. She later told me she was shaking so hard. She stuck her landing though and her lines were most pretty. ( yes I'm saying all that cause I'm her momma)

We need to ask some questions about the vault- this is all new to us. Like why did she do a harder vault if her score was going to be less? (again that's the mom in me)

She kicked some major booty on the floor exercise. Top scores and number 1. Whoot whoo!

Over all she placed 6th out of 20 girls. Not bad for a first go of it. Really not bad since she just started gymnastics this fall.
Congrats to all the girls who got up there and did their thing.

* note* I can't down load the talent show without it crashing my computer so you will have to come over for popcorn and a viewing

So Proud.

Last night was the Middle School Variety Show and Avery and her friend Lauren did themselves proud with the song "Hallelujah" from Shrek. Once I figure out how to down load the video I'll share it with you. Girls - you did good!!

Congrats to all the kids that got up in front of their family,friends and peers. That takes some bravery. Good for you all too.

Some more fun. I love walking by this little corner of the store. It cracks me up. I keep looking at the wall unit and thinking " how can I use that?" Then I say my chant " you are not here to spend money- but to make money". I say this to myself over and over. Although lately I've had lots of fun helping people spend their money and we have had lots of people that have never been in before. That is fun too. Stuff goes out everyday and stuff comes in everyday and unpacking the boxes from the model homes is like Christmas morning. I love my job.

Where else can you find treasures like this? The Consigment Solutions store. That's where! I actually stuck my head in a antique hutch we got in just to smell the old. Crazy, I know. But I'm embracing my crazy right now. We have Vera Bradley bags and tons of MODEL HOME furniture is going on the floor. Come and see us this weekend.

Great Mail Day

 The mailman brought two packages. One from Strawberrilicious - my mug rug swap partner- how awesome is that mug rug and look how perfect it goes with the pyrex my mom and dad sent me. match made in heaven I think. Thank you!!!

 Then I went out to lunch with Bethann and she gave me all this sewing stuff and a gift card to JoAnns. Whoot whoo.

 Wristlet came from my friend Staci

And owl earrings from sister in law P.J.

And to top it all off. Baby Dooley aka Ella Grace Dooley was born. I found out her name when her mom texted me from the hospital as I was walking big sister Stella. All in all a pretty great day.

I'm not getting much sewing time and I hope that I get a break within the next two week cause I would really love to finish this. The house is getting there. Just need the carpet cleaners to call me back. It's always something I guess. See the line in the carpet by the quilt? Learn from my mistake and never use the spray adhesive on or near your carpet. Pray that comes out.
