more of the trip

Sorry for those of you who are expecting a few crafty posts, but family is asking for some more pictures. I'll get something crafty up soon.
Sam's living quarters for 9 1/2 weeks. His mom was amazed at his made bed.
I love it. They even have to sit at attention.
Grandma Joan, Sam and his mom Carla
And finally seeing his half sisters in the first time in a few years.

We're Back

Did you even know I was gone? We went to Dallas/ Fort Worth and spent a rainy day at the Stockyards. We watched the cattledrive and then ate a great steak dinner.
Then  we drove up to Ft. Sill/Lawton Oklahoma to see Private Sam Wayne graduate from 9 1/2 weeks of intense boot camp training. I have never been exposed to any kind of ARMY anything, so to learn the terms and language and values was very enlightening.

He made it through and we are very proud of him. Next stop is AIT at Ft Sam Houston- combat medic.
Man do they ever look alike. Soulmate is such a proud papa.

We got to meet Sweet Miss Katie for the first time and I hope we get to keep in touch. She's a keeper.
I also now have a very healthy respect for the Drill Sergants that get our solders to the point where they need to be. Thank you.

Scrappy goodness

Ask me how much I love these blocks. Go ahead ask me......I LOVE them. These were done for the Bee Modern Too quilting bee and my first ever block I designed. Can be found here
I just need to bind these little beauties and then I have one more Christmas present done:)

Big Bird and Vampira

                                                 Dressed and ready to go
Smiles on their faces and practiced "trick or treats"
A hunger for candy or sisters
Ready to answer the door and give out treats
Pumpkin is not ours, he just thinks he is
And at the end of the night they counted their loot and made trades

Happy Pumpkin Day

Happy Pumpkin Day to everyone. We had our Halloween party last night and I'm happy to report I survived 12 pre teens.
I had help. The night before Queen2 helped rolling out cookies and the cleaning committee was stationed for anything that dropped.

We had lots of goodies and treats. Got to have lots of sugar. My dead anniversary flowers seemed to fit right in.
The girls ate lots of pizza and the juice boxes were flying.
Queen 1 was in charge of decorations and she did a great job.
They turned the juice boxes into cell phones which cracked me up.
They made monster dolls/pillows, bobbed for apples, lots of minute to win it games and relay races.
And I even had time to enjoy this sunset. Success!
