Spring, Sewing and Stuff

The trees are blossoming with beautiful white and pink buds
This is a block that I made for my friend Krista. She is making a quilt with these stars blocks in different colors. I chose green. I can't wait to see this quilt complete. I was blessed enough to be able to give it to her in person and share a meal with our families. Her boys are so stinking sweet and I just love them all.
I have been trying to get some UFO's done and out of the way. I had three blocks left over from a quilt I made for my mom so I thought a table runner would make a nice project. I did some embroidery flowers that I got from Pinterest.
This Friday the girls and I stuffed 1500 eggs for the clubs two Easter egg hunts. We had some friends over and got to visit and stuff eggs and share a meal. It was a real blessing.
This is the next thing on the list. I have to add to Britany's cat quilt from the Around the Bend and Across the Pond flickr group. I got this about a week and a half ago. Any ideas? I'm thinking the word "MEOW" across the top. Thoughts?
Last, I would like to ask that you keep my Dad and Mom in your prayers. They thought Dad had a heart attack Tuesday night. He has been in the hospital this past week and is home now but on a blood thinner and oxygen. Please pray for his continued healing and strenghth for my Mom. Thank you.

What's wrong with this picture?

Is it me or does Jack look a little put out? The girl comes home and puts on her pj's after school and finds a place to crash for a while, today it was the dog beds. Why not?

When using credit cards is OK

As I shared before I have paid off two of my credit cards since the first of this year. Well, I came across two ten dollar credits that I could use but only if I used my card. One thing that became pretty clear is the cards want you back and will throw lots of things at you to get you back. So I used my twenty dollars worth of credits plus the discount they were offering and paid shipping on my card and then turned around and paid off the balance by phone. Four shirts for $7.78. Not bad. And most important ZERO balance.

Linda's Quilt

This is the quilt made for my friend and co-worker Linda. As some of you know my Dad went through cancer, lukemia to be exact and when I heard the news the only thing I could think to do was to make him a quilt. I prayed over the quilt that it would give him comfort as he went through treatment. A few weeks ago Linda shared with us that she will be going through treatment as well for a different type of cancer and again thought of a quilt. Now I have to give God the glory on the design of this quilt because I remember thinking and believe he was telling me to use his word as a shield and how I could stitch bible verses of strenghth and healing in this quilt.
So each color square has a verses stitched into it. Some of them from co-workers and some from my journal when Dad was going through treatment.
Some were new to me that I looked up on the internet and read in the bible.
And one of my favorites- " When you go through deep waters, I will be with you" Isaish 43:2

Linda called me yesterday when her quilt was delivered and she loves it. I hope to personally hug her Monday. Please lift her up in prayer. It works!!!!

I'm Back.

It's been 20 days since I was last here. Isn't this sunrise amazing?! God does some pretty good work huh?
So since I was last here I've been up to my eyeballs in string. Lots of embroidery. There has been a project that has been tugging on my heart. So I have been collecting verses of inspiration and stitching them into a quilt for a friend.
There is something so peaceful about sitting and stitching words. I really enjoyed it.
This is Psalms 23. Each word is a different color to go with the scrappiness of the quilt. I'll share the quilt next post.

Checking in

It was my birthday this last Tuesday and it made me a bit reflective, not in the neon kind of way. I went back to the goals I had wrote for myself at the beginning of the year. So here is where I'm at:

1. 525 miles logged in- yippee
2. 2 credit cards paid off- another yippee
3. still in my bible every day- whoot whoot
4. Follow weight watchers- did I write that? um.... huh.... yes, I guess I did. Not so good on that one. I will pray that I find the same conviction about this as I did with my debt. This is a battle I have hung on to, have conquered briefly once and really need to give it to God. Time to stop making excuses and telling myself lies.
"Why spend your money on food that does not give you strength?..Listen to me and you will eat what is good" Isaiah 55:2
2x4 upside the head...... I hear ya Lord.
And this was how I spend my extra day off. Not really a day off when you're doing 8 loads of laundry, but at least I got to do it in my sweats.
And this is the next quilt I am making. There is a big story to this one but more on that after it is given.
