From my window

I see little buds of color and the promise of spring. That is a good thing because this weekend was cloudy, rainy and dark. We needed the rain, but the weather made me want to crawl into myself.
We did have a little thunder storm- I love thunder storms.

Today I went and got the state inspection done on my car-only three months overdue. Thank you Homer for pointing that one out to me. Who pays attention to the little stickers on the windshield? Not I. Soulmate is having his car put all up to date also. He got to stay home for most of the day. There was a meeting in our neighborhood he went to and then he and I went out to lunch. I've spent the afternoon sewing on the jungle blanket. I'm not going to post anymore pics of it until it's done. I want to hear ohhhhs and aaawwwws when it's finished not "this thing again" You know what I mean?

I can't believe it's almost April. I'm still stuck in February. I still have snowmen up in my house. I know they say time passes faster as you get older- but this is silly.

I'm going to leave you with this today, because it's popped up three times today and I will take the hint that I need to share it.

"For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline."

It's a Giveaway

I love me some free fabric!!!!!!!

Cheerleader Sketch

Something that I have on the books to work on. My sister wants a bag for cheerleading. She is the coach for the Cowboys. She expressed a liking to the fairy queen bag so I went for the same style. I think I'm going to do all black and white.
Had a really good day yesterday and met some nice people along the way. At Queen 2's tennis I sat and laughed with two woman who I just met and it was wonderful. Both very funny and very different. Time passed very quickly.

3 more

I got these done yesterday morning before church. Yes, I was up very early. Someone was snoring in my bed, which is a first. Never before has Soulmate snored or if he has it has never been so loud that I woke up (over and over again). Oh well- I still love him. I have four more blocks to go on this and then I can cut out my other fabric. I should take a picture of my basement floor- HUGE MESS! I just smile. I'm having fun.

Saturday Sewing

I got alot done in a few hours and made a big mess to boot. What more could a girl want on Saturday? Hope you had a good day too.

Intro's to the barn

Here we have Cisco and Playboy. Both roping horses and both excellent horses. Playboy fits his name with lots of ego and swagger. I think I have forgotten how to ride. I tried to warm Playboy up and could not keep my butt in the saddle at a canter. It is the first time I've ridden in about five months but Bummer. I have to get back inot it a bit more. Remember Blue? Not there a week and someone wanted him. Good for Blue to have a new home, but Queen 1 will be bummed.

This is Midnight! I chased my first cow on this horse and when we reached the end I had the shakes from the adreniline. He looked up at me like "WHat's the big deal?" Fast!!!!!! That is the big deal.

Getting the cows ready to rope. I worked the shoot for the first time and did good up until the point where the front popped open and the second cow got out following the first and the horses as they tried to rope. I said, " $%$# Stay Cow!" like he was going to go back into the shoot. Funny! We laughed alot.

Fareed and Playboy

Anna and Cisco- Sorry it's blurry- constant motion.

lady B and Midnight

Anna and me. This is her birthday and fare well lunch. She has decided to go back home to Hawaii. I would like a brain transplant of all her horse ability. The girl can ride!

It's a jungle

I have one more left to embroider. I have friends in NY who just moved into a log home. It has been their dream for many years and it has finally happened. Their oldest daughter gets to decorate her room and wants to do a jungle theme. Their daughter talked to me on the phone to get ideas and we came up with a few, but this has really been on my mind for a couple of weeks. Then I saw this fabric online and had to buy it. From there, because I love stitching so much I drew animals that were on the fabric and stitched them on white fabric. These will be my center of each square. I have 12 total and sketched out the pattern for the quilt last night in bed. It is going to be a long work in progress so I hope you don't mind hearing about it for a while.

Sunset

The sun came out long enough to give us this beautiful sunset. I had to take a moment to take some pics so I could share with you.

What we are reading

I recently joined a book group and this is the book we are reading. So far I love it. It has really spoken to me about being more positive and not talking myself out of stuff before I've had a chance to try it. About keeping myself open to opportunites throughout the day. The chapters all start out "Created For". So far we have covered purpose, dreams risk and success. The women in this group are very enjoyable, smart women.

Elephant Handbag

Got it done. I don't know what it is about sewing on the straps but I break needles every time. I started to laugh at myself because I went from a serine sewer to cussing at the machine and making up my own words. A far cry from a few weeks ago when if I couldn't figure it out I would pray over the sewing machine and everything would fall into place. I was going to sew on those straps even if I broke every needle I had...... and I just bought more. Stubborn Girl. But it's done!

Wish upon a star

This is the latest piece I've been working on. The owl is from Artex. I found on Flickr posted by Q is for Quilter. Thank you Martha for sharing. I loved the body and expression in the owl, almost cartoon like. I added the moon and star and saying on the bottom for a bit of whimsy.
Still working on the elephant bag. I hate that I gave myself a deadline because that is sucking the fun out of it. I just have to put the straps on and that will take me no time at all. I might do a owl handbag next or maybe it's time to work on a blanket. We have several birthdays coming up that I need to get presents put together for.
We got our Easter Basket swap partners. Queen 2 has a little 8 yr old boy from California and Queen 1 has a 13 yr old girl from VA Beach area. Her mom was the creator of the Primitive embroidery swap I received. How cool is that? Talk about a small world. We have some very cool things we are putting together for both of them and will send it out end of next week. It will be fun.
I know I have said this before but .........I've got to stop buying fabric! It is a sickness. Truly. I do find the coolest things for not a ton and I must admit it is the thrill of the hunt. It is bad.

Think Spring

The leaves are starting to bud and the branches have different hues of color, some red, sone light green. Very pretty and makes us hopeful for some sunshine soon. Three days of overcast and rain.

Meet Blue

Queen 1 had a make up lesson yesterday and rode a new horse to her and the barn. His name is Blue. Yes, he does have one blue eye. He is from Colorado and is a roping horse. He is a little on the thin side, but will get plenty of food and care now. They got along really well and she did good keeping him from zipping off at the speed of sound. They even tried out barrels. I was the cheering section on the side. Not a bad way to spend a rainy afternoon.

Elephants are Next

Queen 1 helped me out with this one. She gave me the idea and then I found these embroidery patterns from Flickr. Not to sure of the author of them. Fabric is from Joann's and ZandS fabrics. I cut it out last night and began to put it together. Might be done by Tuesday. I can't believe it's Friday already. Seems like it was just Monday. A very busy week with a busy weekend. We get to have dinner with some of our favorite people on Saturday so I'm looking forward to that. The girls each have a party to go to. And some exciting news. My Sister has bought her first house and settles on Monday or Tuesday. Very excited for her and her kiddos. Give me a big Wahoo!

Tree Mailbag

It is done. After breaking three needles just getting the handle sewn on......someone is telling me to clean the house and stop sewing. I have about four more things on the brain and I should start writing it down before I forget. Yippee skippy one more done!

In the works

Embroidery is my design inspired by the fabric. Spent yesterday at the sewing machine as it drowns out the noise of the house being built next door. I will say this....they are moving along at a fast pace and have the two upper levels framed in. I think the roof will be next.
I shouldn't post new things when my head is in such a fog but wanted to say Hi to all. I think I need another cup of coffee. I'm almost done with above project and when it is complete I'll post pics. Last night I drew two more owl patterns to embroider. One will be a hand bag. the other a mini quilt wall hanging I think. I'm very much in the zone. A really sweet thing was last night both queens asked if they could do what I was doing and we picked out stuff for them to trace on the fabric and then they asked how I did what I did to make it look like that. Pretty cool for the mommy. So all three of us had our hoops and needles out as we watched tv with Soulmate.

Dog Lover

Tee Hee. Tee hee. tee hee teehee. Oh the happy sounds. Fingers are strumming together and giggles delight. I finished it and it case you couldn't tell I'm very happy.

A little house

Good Morning! How is everyone with the time change? I'm good now. It took a few days though. No horseback riding lesson for Queen 1 yesterday so I spent the afternoon sewing. Can't tell you how much that bummed me out. Right. Piecing together a little bag. I'll post pics when it is done. I have the handles left to put on the dog lover bag and it is finished. It is a big bag. Funny how these things take on a life of their own and you look at the finished project and think "Wow, not what I thought of when I started, but cool"
Above is a house I painted during Queen 2's party. Madeline suggested the wreath on the door. Kids have the best creative thoughts. I have five more houses to paint to create a little village. That is for another day- today is about sewing. By the way Joann's is a very dangerous place this week. Many things on sale. I was very happy yesterday- good remenant finds and 1.99 fabric. And I'm off to try and not shred fabric and see if I can get that straight line thing down.

Great Day!!

Upcoming project- love owls!!!
Queen 2 is such a rockstar at tennis she is getting to go up to the next age level for the upcoming sign up sessions. She is a little nervous but it is the next step and she can do it. Hanging out with 10-14 yrs old. Sorry the pic is blurry- constant movement. So proud!!!

My Primitive Stitching swap received- made by Tammy. Thank you so much. I love the mesage and the smelly goodness you sent along with it.
