Front and Back Done

One down one to go. I've got to get the railfence one together and create a back and then figure out how I am going to quilt all these pretties. I will have 5 to quilt and last night I drew up three more to put together. Too bad things like laundry, housecleaning and dinner get in the way. I could hang out in my "cave" all day. I just put a radio down there and was going to the music yesterday. FUN.

Busy and Busy

This weekend was pack full of fun. We started off by getting our flu shots. Oh Boy. Above is a 9 patch block I made for a charity quilt. I made another one also, but didn't take a pic. I'm not so good at the blocks that have to meet up on points. It makes me frustrated at my sewing. I am currently working on the back of the wonky horse quilt. I like this better- more creative and I can put together the puzzle, so to speak. I hope to get that finished today or tomorrow.

We went to the Bluemont Country Fair on Saturday and looked at all the crafty stuff. I don't know how many people were buying but the day was perfect for it. We ate BBQ and walked around for a couple of hours. It is beautiful out there.

Sunday the family went to our fav course about 20 minutes away. It is pretty and not that busy and very relaxing. We had a lot of fun and I love that it is something we can do as a family. We played 9 holes. The girls and I still pick up quite a bit but we are getting better. At least that is what I keep telling myself. I'm sure the golf pro would disagree.

Swim lessons

The queens are taking swim lessons two days a week. They like the swimming after the lesson the best. In all fairness they should be in a more advanced class or they are in the right class but there are some kiddos in it that are not as strong. I would like to think that they are still having fun no matter what.

I started walking a dog this week. Her name is Stella and she is a Plotts Hound Mix. About 70 pounds and very beautiful and sweet.

My new favorite word..... Benign. My moles came back benign and so did my littermates stuff. We both got the news today and thus my new favorite word.

When a plan comes together

I am so lovin how this is coming together. I got to get in a little sewing time today and finished the top to this quilt. Now I have to put together the railfence and two backs. I'm going for a two week goal but we'll see how it goes.

There is now a plan

Before I was just wingin' it. I sketched something out and have a good idea what direction I'm going. We will see how far I get this week with it.
Went to the Doctors today - got a spot frozen off my nose- had two moles removed and was looked over by a 30 something Doctor and his lovely 20 something assistant to be told that I have a few sun spots and get this ..... are you ready?...... AGE SPOTS. Hello?!? What?!? How completely rude to have age spots at 39 yrs of age. I'm in protest.
How was your day? Bet you don't have age spots.

Happy mail Day

My fabric order came in yesterday so that made me happy, but what really put a smile on my face was this.....

This is the Banyan Tree Doll Quilt I received from Mary. There is so much detail work in this quilt it is mind blowing. All the little pieces sewn with a machine outlining all the little details- WOW. I call it a work of art. So that is the front, but then check out the back....
Pretty cool huh? Then I also got in the fun package some fabric

a cute little owl that she made- Queen 1 has already stolen this for her room. Love his button eyes.

There was also some See's candy. Ha Ha Ha (evil laugh) I have hidden this in my very secret spot and have told no one. Then this card that was sewn so cute. This was a secret swap so I had no idea who was sending me a quilt and what a lovely surprise to have someone who I know I am going to like and I look forward to getting to know Mary. Thank you so much!!!!

Works in Progress Wednesday

For this one I have to paint the wood frame antique gold and glue the back for Queen 2's room. I also have Queen 1's name to paint in letters and put above her closet. I cleaned out her room today and the pigs were talking up a storm at me. Lu Lu does/doesn't like the vacuum. I can't decide if she is freaking out or really excited. She popcorns all over her cage.
This is the railfence that is laid out in squares on the floor that I need to sew together. I was really bad and instead of finishing this like I should I started on this.......

This is a wonky square quilt that I am doing with a Flickr group and I was really excited to learn and try. I am cutting fabric as I go as I don't want to waste or find myself with scraps I don't know what to do with. My scrap basket is running over as it is.
So what are you working on?

Yesterday

As you can see from the pictures above we had a wonderful day. We started off berry picking at a local farm. We had tried to make reservations to get there last weekend and missed out but they still had plenty of berries for us to pick. It was a bit early for Queen 2 but otherwise I think everyone enjoyed themselves.
We came home and took a break. I got some sewing in. We headed out to the golf course and everyone played- myself included. Don't get me wrong, the girls and I picked up our balls plenty, but we didn't loose one. I played a entire hole and shot 7 on a par 4- well ok 10 if you include the whiffs and Soulmate says I have to include those. But we had so much fun as a family I asked for my own clubs, so I won't have to keep borrowing his.
Who knows what today will bring?

Bus Stops

I forgot to tell you thank you for your prayers. Transportation called and moved the bus stops for elementary and middle school so we don't have to cross the street or walk in mud to get to our stop. It is right in front of our house. Yippee!!!

Summer Flew by

Queen 1 with some scruffy mutts. They look much better now after a haircut.
Queen2 with friend at the pool where we spent alot of summer.
We went to the middle school open house yesterday and OMG. It was crazy! She got her locker and combination and practiced opening it and set up all her stuff in it. We met her homeroom teacher Mr Knapp. She is in her homeroom with the kids that have W as a last name. There was one Z in there too. It is a whole new world!
Today we go to the elementary school to meet Queen 2's teacher Mr Reed. We have a new principle and all new office staff so that will be exciting.
The weather has cooled off quite a bit and the evenings are getting into the 50's which makes going to the pool a pretty cold playtime so I'm not to sure what we are going to do with our afternoon.
This weekend we are going to pick raspberries. I got a time reserved at one of the farms nearby. Should be fun and yummy! Hope you have a good weekend.
