Baby Boy Quilt

Remember the quilt I was working on? I gave it to Ranell this week. She loved it. I'm so glad. I can't wait to meet this baby. I sure love his momma. She is the best librarian I know and keeps me in good books.

The Rio Grande

This past weekend all the girls and I went to walk along the bosque
The bosque is a grove of cottonwood trees next to the Rio Grande
Here we walked up to the edge of it. We walked almost 4 miles.
After we walked I took the girls to Dairy Queen. I used my voucher from Amazon Local. Have you checked this out? I got a 10.00 voucher for 5.00. Can't beat that.

First Quilting project of the year

The Librarian at our school is having her third baby and is having a boy. I wanted to make this baby a quilt and when I hasked about colors she said blues. Denyse Schmidt makes awesome prints in quilting fabric. I love it all. So I pulled some Katie Jumped Rope and other DS prints and had a field day.
The plaid will be the back and the green the binding
Had to show off the houses that our girls made with Brooklyn and Lillian, my stepsons girls. They look great with the table runner huh? It was made by my NY sister from another mister - Jill

Money goals

It is that time of year. I love this time of year. Fresh starts- refocusing- goal setting. I have spent a good portion of this break thinking about what I want to accomplish in 2014.

1.) 1000 in my savings account by end of May.
2.) One credit card paid off by the end of the year and others paid down.
3.) Open a Roth IRA account for myself

Goals Revisited

1. 500 miles - I started this last year and actually made this goal. I walked 500 miles last year and I want to do the same this year.  I walked 300 miles
2. 2000 miles- Of cycling- I re-found the love I have for cycling/spin classes. 1500 miles cycling
3. Pay off 4 credit cards- I won't go into how much debt we have, but I have been researching how to pay off debt and every blog, article, or pin I've read mentioned Dave Ramsy and the Total Money makeover. I bought the book (used for 3dollars) So my goal for this year is to pay off four of my credit cards. 1 down 3 to go. I got three paid off
4. Have 1,000. in my savings by the end of the year. 300 in savings
5. Watch my mouth- I have a potty mouth- HUGE!!!!! Still needs work
6. Be in my bible daily. This helps with all the other goals and puts my heart in the right direction. Still needs work. The internet everyday messages help
7. Be an intentional wife and mother. Family Life radio talks about being intentional in your daily walk and I didn't really think about what that meant until recently. Making the most of each moment with my husband and daughters. ( I would add sister and daughter to that too) Lord knows I tried
8. Be grateful for everything God has given me and to remember that things happen for a reason Needs to happen all the time everyday
9. Say Thank You!!! Along with that is being postive with the people that are put in my path. Needs to be this years goal as well
10. Treating my body like the temple of God. That means not using food as a drug. No stress eating, emotional eating. Looking for happiness and comfort in food. Failed this bigtime
11. Follow the Weight Watcher plan. It works when I use it. Failed this one too
12. Bring my body weight down by 10 percent. So many health benefits to doing this. Does gaining two pounds count? LOSER- oh maybe I should say GAINER
13. Last but not least- Blog more. Share more. Create more. Cook more. All tied in together. This was hard. Working fulltime, mom of two teenage girls, wife of one husband and three dogs and let's not forget the house that needs to be cleaned and then there is Pinterest. Hello. I promised to try harder in 2014

2013 in Review

My dad beat leukemia with the blessing of God and a stem cell transplant for my Aunt Mel and the loving care of my mommy
I got to visit my 95 year old Nana for the last time in June. She went to be with the Lord September 28th and I miss her everyday.
There were still quilts to be made and I did about a dozen. The last for a family that lost their son this summer- three t shirt quilts-my first ever.
Our family took a vacation for the first time in many years just the four of us. We went to Pagosa Springs in Colorado and rented a cabin for four days. I just love the area and could retire there very easily.
I started Menu Planning. Made a book and everything. This is such a blessing in so many ways. Everyone knows what is for dinner, it helps in shopping and it helps with the budget.
We have a new member of our family. I found this dog in the parking lot of school. We found her family and they asked if we wanted her. I named her Nana. I found her two days after my Nana passed, thus Nana. She keeps me walking everyday.
We had lots of family visits this year. We went to Nevada, Sonora and Monterey this summer. My mom and dad came for Thanksgiving and Doug's son Sam came with his family during our winter break. Meet Liz, Brooklyn and Lillian.

Happy New Year!
