Nice and Tidy

Today of a day of getting the manor in shape. We are having company tomorrow. A group of ladies from our old neighborhood are coming to see the new digs for the first time. We are having a potluck of sorts with me making Tortellini soup.
The fabrics are all pulled together from various hiding places (aka basement bins) I figured if I got them out and close it might make me want to pull the sewing machine out. It's been a while and I think I've forgotten how to use it.
The owl guy is something I stitched last night while the family was watching TV and the buttons and ribbons pulled from the same various places as the fabric.

For my Love

Stitched with love for my love

Feb. 4th is special to us

Some pretty pictures of the area to brighten your day. This is a golf course Soulmate's company manages. We sometimes go out on a weekend day as a family with Soulmate and the Queens hitting balls on the grass and me picking apples from the trees when they are in season.

Today is Soulmate's birthday. I won't tell you his age. When he came home from work we gave him a bag full of goodies including books, a bookmark, sweatshirt, t-shirt and Starbucks card. He made out alright and seemed to like everything. We just got back from dinner and now there is a Wii bowling championship going on in the room next to me. We have cake baked from me for dessert. Yummy! Happy Birthday Soulmate! We love you!

Ice skating

SO here are the queens attempting to ice skate. I will be happy when Queen 1 no longer needs crutches. A fall on a twisted ankle makes for a sprained ankle and lots of unhappiness. The looks on their faces are quite funny though.

Big Pile of Dirt

Look what happened. They are starting to build next to us and it is a bit on the loud side. Now the queens see that pile of dirt and want to play, but the construction guys don't like that idea. Me either to be honest. Who knows what kind of pokey things are in that pile.

A Few New Artist Finds

This is called soft sculpture. It is done by artist Abby Glassenberg. When I first saw her work I immediately fell in love. The detail is amazing. Go to her website www.abbyglassenberg.com to see more.
The second is a photographer who takes mostly wildlife photos in Alaska. His name is Jasper James. My next step is to goggle his name to see if there is a website.
Soulmate came home today after being gone on business and he took us to lunch and then I fell into the deepest sleep for a couple of hours. Drool down my chin kind of deep sleep. So happy to have him back.

Pottery Pick Up

So Lady B and I made our bi-weekly pottery run and I dropped off some work and picked up the above. I'm really pleased with how it all turned out. We then went to a big craft fair put on by www.SugarloafCrafts.com . There was alot of different stuff- most felt mass produced to me. I get spoiled by being on Flickr and looking at all the handmade stuff. I didn't buy anything but held packages as Lady B went through getting a little of this and a little of that. She ended up getting this beautiful picture on canvas of a group of eagles done by Jasper James. Beautiful work. I may goggle him and see what else he has done. He was telling us he has been to Alaska over 60 times. I'd like to go just once. Beautiful!! After the craft fair it was off to grab some lunch and then get the queens off the bus. Well have to go write down all my ideas.
