Happy Pumpkin Day

Happy Pumpkin Day to everyone. We had our Halloween party last night and I'm happy to report I survived 12 pre teens.
I had help. The night before Queen2 helped rolling out cookies and the cleaning committee was stationed for anything that dropped.

We had lots of goodies and treats. Got to have lots of sugar. My dead anniversary flowers seemed to fit right in.
The girls ate lots of pizza and the juice boxes were flying.
Queen 1 was in charge of decorations and she did a great job.
They turned the juice boxes into cell phones which cracked me up.
They made monster dolls/pillows, bobbed for apples, lots of minute to win it games and relay races.
And I even had time to enjoy this sunset. Success!

From the Expressions quilt I made three scrappy mug rugs for Christmas gifts.
This is a Girl Scout Market bag I made for my friend Bethann who is doing a raffle and filling it with lots of Girl Scout goodies.

Why I love fall

The hunt for the perfect pumpkin. The big one 1400 lbs. It was real.
Mums and cabbage make the yards look so nice
Stands have their baked goods. The smell of pie out of the oven. Oh yum.
Some of my favorite colors up above
Today is Soulmate and my 16th wedding anniversary.  We were married in the courtyard of Playa del rey in Carmel overlooking the ocean with 40 of our closest friends and family. Another reason I love fall

Spoiled Rotten

Look at what the mailman brought me yesterday. Am I spoiled rotten or what? I received this beauty from Marilyn who I was partnered with for the STUD group from Flickr. The theme was fussy cut fabric and look at what she did with it. I love the mirrored image of the owls and the Tina Givens fabric is to die for. I'm so in love with this little quiltie. Thank you so much.

Raw Apple Cake

One of my favorites and super easy too.

Grab a big mixing bowl, 9 x 13 baking dish and turn the oven on to 350. Got it?

1/2 cup of vegetable oil
2 tsp vanilla
1 cup nuts- optional
2 eggs slightly beaten
2 cups of flour
2 tsp of baking soda
1 tsp of cinnamon
1 tsp of salt

Throw it all in the bowl, mix until all ingredients are moist and then put it in the greased 9 x 13 baking dish.
bake for 1 hour. Enjoy!

A fussy cut quilt

This is the Fussy Cut Quilt I made for Marilyn B. Thank you Marilyn for taking a photo because in my rush- I did not. Marilyn had mentioned a love of Alexander Henry and I also share that love so fussy cuts of mushroom and Farmlands for her. I can't wait to see what she has in store for me. Kind of giddy with it.

Apple Picking

On our way to the orchards.
It's the Wayne way. They like to climb trees and all the city folk picked the lower half.
Besides the best ones are the ones you have to climb for
I think Soulmate got a bug in his mouth supervising.
We found a good spot away from the crowds and hit the motherlode
Now to go make something yummy with them.

what else I found

I was moving shelves around trying to make room for the table and I see this big black spot on the wall. This pipe that wasn't sealed properly had been leaking for about a year. I'm surprised the damage wasn't worse. The plumber came and fixed the pipe and now we are waiting for the builder to come and fix the wall. Crazy huh? I'm so glad I got in the cleaning mood and found this. It could have been so much worse.
I put the sewing machine on the wood table- big difference from the card table. Yippee
All of my little pretties- for inspiration. They are on two walls now. Thank you to everyone who has swapped with me:)
And I threw up some batting to get my blocks off the floor. it's not perfect but it will do for now.

Stash Infusion

I took a look at the sewing room- remember the one that looked like a bomb went off in it. Well I guess I was the bomb and by saying that not da bomb but The bomb. I recently purchased some fabric that I forgot to show you. So above is some Art Gallery.
Some Amy Butler love- I've looked at this a long time and just jumped in.
Lots of goodies from Hawthorne Threads
And a find in Carson City NV- Heather Ross West Hill. I could pet it all day.
The story doesn't end here. Wait for tomorrows post to see what else I found.

New Job

I have started to work part-time at Consignment Solutions with  Rosemary and Steve Scholder. They were my old neighbors at the townhomes we rented and I adopted them as family. I put the bug in their ears that when and if they ever needed an employee, I was their gal. I work very part time as it is still important for me to be home when the girls get off the bus. I love it. When I was a teenager in high school we had a career day and I stated I wanted to be a interior designer- that didn't happen- but I sure love to play store and play with all the new things that come in daily.
They have now opened a new store and things are going very well.
We have stuff from private consignors and model homes. Just wanted to share and give you a taste of what is new with me. What are you up to?

Animal Park

This weekend we went to the animal park nearby. We spent a couple of hours looking at all the different animals and longingly wishes we lived in the country so we could have chickens and rabbits and a pond.
The chickens were just loose running around and visiting whoever they wanted to
This little guys seemed drawn to the girls and their quiet ways
Favorite part- feeding the ducks and fish at the pond. So relaxing and peaceful. Loved it.
They would come and eat right out of your hand

Had to take a picture of the tom turkey showing off his feathers- thanksgiving is coming.
