Snow Day

And as I look at the window it is snowing some more. Just what everyone needed- Snow Days. We are catching up and trying to get Avery better from Strep, crossing our fingers she doesn't share. Right now they are upstairs watching home movies of when they were babies and I love that. I'm working at that list I made at the beginning of the month and have made good progress. Now to tackle purging the basement. If you don't hear from me in a while send out the search team.

Heavy Heart

Today I will go with my husband to the funeral of a man that only lived 31 years. My heart is heavy for the pain his family must be going through and for his 6 month old son and his wife. Even though my family will be experiecing change in the next months to come we have one another and for that I am so thankful and puts our journey in perspective. So message today- hug your family.

Fabric therapy

So I have been fondling my fabric. It is a sickness. I know. I spent the other night cutting all my scraps up into 1.5 and 2.5 inch squares for future projects. I really want to focus on scrapbusting alot of my stash. For those non-quilters I am now speaking another language. (making use of all the little pieces of left over fabric) I spent ALL day Monday going through and organizing my fabric. Most of it I have grouped into sets to make quilts from. My parting thought from this experience is that I have WAY TOO MUCH FABRIC.
This is from my Rug Mug Swap and it is now finished. I have even put together little treats and goodies. It doesn't get to be mailed off until Feb. but I feel better knowing it is done. Remember my list I shared at the first of the month. I'm chipping away at that bad boy. I have my red, pink and white quilt all sandwiched and ready to quilt and bind. I still have half of my bee blocks to make hopefully Thursday or this weekend. Now off to think about what to make for dinner. any ideas?

more of the baby shower

Jenn had such a good turn out and the best family on both sides. It was a pleasure to be there.
How cute is this cake? The closest I got was to take a picture. I took Stella for a walk instead which was win-win for me.
Pretty girl wondering what all those people were doing in her house.
7 more weeks and I'll know the baby's name. I did find out it will not be Dena- no double D's for the Dooleys. That cracked me up.

Now I can show you

Baby quilt was giving to Baby Dooley today. Jenn still didn't tell me her name. Darn that girl and her zipped lips.

Hey partner, does this help?

Hey partner, does this help?, originally uploaded by denawayne.
Well, before I told you I had been accepted in two swaps- The Scrappy mug rug swap and The Doll Quilt Swap. So excited!!!! So I thought I would write a note to my partner who is a secret and I won't know who he/she is until I get my package in the mail. Cheating? no not really. Well maybe. Color me bad. I am in LOVE with the scrappy look lately. Colors and brights and whites OH MY! Grey is good too. Let's not forget linen- love that also. My one request and this is going to sound like crazy talk coming from me but, are you ready for this? No Owls. See crazy I know. I love them. But lately that is all I have received and there is so much greatness not owl that I feel the need for a little of it. Please please pretty please think scrappy happy. Now I'm off to stalk my partners. Bwahahahaha.

She's Amazing

I love my girls, originally uploaded by denawayne.
I don't tell her that enough. I need to. She has grown up so fast it blows my mind. She told me that she is audtioning for the solo on the song "Fever". It took me back to my high school jazz choir days of singing the same song and it hit me- wow she is really growing up fast. I watched her show her Dad and sister how to figure out her sister's math homework (stuff that looks like a foreign language to me) and it hit me how wonderful and smart she is. She is very kind and polite and I could not ask for more. She is going to be in the talent show at school and for that I think she is brave to sing in front of everyone like that. I couldn't do that in 7th grade. She's Amazing!!

1. red, pink and white quilt
2. Birthday table runner
3. Bee Blocks ( two from Dec.)
4. Hug Quilt
5. Mini QT swap - theme take flight
6. Way overdue sockmonkey who is in pieces.

It's Mine and It's Here

Dana from Old Red Barn Co was having a giveaway of this quilt. Background- Dana started a Flickr group quilt along that can be found here. She has introduced me to so many wonderful women (and men) through this group, not to mention has helped my quilting HUGE. Dana and I exchange emails, comment on each others blogs and have become friends in the sense that you are friends with meeting. I tease that I am going to drop by her house for tea and she says "come on by". When she was making this quilt I was asking all kinds of questions"how big are your squares?" "who is quilting it?" Is that the Oz fabric line?"So there was HUGE love for this quilt and THEN she has a giveaway. In every spot available I put "please be mine" and now it is. I love it so much you have no idea. It is sooooo perfectly done. I feel so lucky to have a part of her and still can't wait until we can have a cup of tea together. I will treasure it always. Thank you Dana!!!
And this is a tease for Jenn. This is Baby Dooley's quilt. "Oh, Oh I almost showed you the whole thing! "(sticks tongue out and gives a raspberry). Jenn is having a baby girl and refuses to tell me the name. And that is fine but now the wench is teasing me. " oh oh I almost said her name" Plain Rude!

Happy New Year My Friends

Is it bad that all I can think about is the quilts I want to make this year? And then I stress over the fact that there is not enough time to make all those quilts? It is a sickness for sure.

We had a wonderful time on our vacation and this little fellow missed us because he spent two full days visiting, the first to watch the fish and the second morning he came over he fell asleep under the Christmas tree. It is a good thing his mommy doesn't mind sharing.

So I have lists going through my head. I can't seem to stop the list making. What is it about it being a new year? It seems like a lot of pressure. Tell me how was your New Years and are you making lists in your head too or am I the only crazy one. Don't answer that. I know I'm the crazy one. Just kidding. Would love to hear from you and Happy New Year!!!!
